Halloween 2003

My Four-Day Vacation

This is the best time of the year for crossdressers and transgendered. It is a time when we aren't questioned about how we are dressed. I don't normally let it bother me what others think of what I am wearing, I just try to be as presentable as possible when I get out. However, I did loosen up a bit for Halloween weekend.

The weekend started on Thursday for me. I checked into a luxury suite at the Downtown Sheraton, unpacked, and waited for my friend Terry to join me. I chose a conservative herringbone suit with leather trim to wear that evening. By the time she arrived I was getting hungry, so we headed for the county to eat and do some shopping. We selected the Canyon Restaurant in Plaza Frontenac Terry chose to dress in drab the first evening and his being about as tall as I am in heels gave us the appearance of being a couple, which means I received fewer looks than if I had been by myself or with another gal.

After dinner we went to West County Mall, shopped for about an hour, then stopped by Ameristar's Bottleneck Blues Bar. I couldn't resist having my picture taken under the sign outside the bar. I enjoy going to Bottleneck because they often have good bands there, but I don't get a rush like I do at a new place. Now the bartenders even know my drink.

On Friday, Terry and I spent the day shopping downtown. As often is the case, I found another cute wig at Grand Wig that I just couldn't do without. Around 4, we headed to Options Saloon for a group makeover from Richard Tracy. Besides transforming us, Richard also performed his magic on a first timer at crossdressing (just for Halloween). I believe the couple was going as Madonna and Brittney. I was to be a Bavarian beer waitress and I'm just not sure what Terry was going as, but I am sure she wouldn't go unnoticed. Angela and Bill stopped by to visit for awhile and if you haven't guessed it, they were going out as a bride and groom. Nice wedding gown! Hot Hot Hot.

By the time we left Options Salon it was after 9 and sprinkling so we skipped plan A (Central West End) and went to plan B--Jacques Sports Bar at the Sheraton. We met up with Lisa, John, Rita, Marc, and an assortment of others for an enjoyable evening of socializing and dancing to Rhythm Rockers. When Jacques closed, we took a trip to Mags, a favorite spot for transgendered after Blake's closes at 1.

Uh-oh, busted by security at the Sheraton.

Saturday was a sleep-late day, with breakfast at Uncle Bill's on South Kingshighway around 2 p.m. The help seemed to have a gender attitude.

Saturday evening, six of us went to see Sh-Boom at the CasaLoma Ballroom in South St. Louis. I was a bit apprehensive as to how the evening would go, as we hadn't been there before, but we were very well accepted and had a sensational time. In fact, it was so good we plan on going back in December to see Sh-Boom for the annual Christmas party.
